Ironman Prep Day 36 ITU World Cup Race Nov 20

Race morning!

EXCITEMENT

So after bike and gear set up, went to get body marked at the cloud and a couple of other things, then off to swim start. Game face on!

Long 1.5km swim followed by a slightly hilly course of 40km bike then a run on concrete 10km run in 2:23 race time and slightly disappointing 27th place but it was by far the strongest field I've ever raced in at a New Zealand race. So even though I didn't have a stellar race, I am proud of my effort from the last 5 weeks.

Jane's race didn't go as she hoped either with such strong fields and the roll down in our age groups didn't even start so we both have 2 more chances to qualify for world champs. 20 people already committed so need to step up. Only comforting fact we are not alone in this quest.

Throughout the day, i do struggle to be the solid comforting force that Jane needs before a race when I am also racing. I need to work at it. Be efficient with my pre race and be calmer. Then I can be more supportive for Jane when she is in need.

I'm now down to 3 days of pills left in this script. I have things to talk through with the doctor but he's not available this week. I will book in a time when he is and go from there. I'm a little scared though that him kind of plateaued with this script.
